Event Details

Known as the market’s “fear  gauge”, the VIX index and its related measures covering equity, currency and fixed income measures across the globe have become go-to measures of uncertainty and turmoil in markets.  But what does a VIX of 20 really mean?  And do the low VIX levels seen recently indicate the market has become complacent?    Tim Edwards PhD, Senior Director of Index Investment Strategy at S&P Dow Jones Indices will present a guide to reading VIX, covering
  • Mean reversion and premiums in volatility markets
  • How to tell if  the VIX is “high” or “low”, and what this means for future volatility
  • How and why VIX can “get things wrong”
  • Applications to global volatility indicators
