[Webinar] Hang Seng Index – A leading Benchmark for Hong Kong Blue-chips

Events Details (Code: 210610LU-CEX)

For over 50 years, Hang Seng Index (HSI) has been serving as the leading benchmark for investors to gauge the performance of Hong Kong’s blue chips. Given the rapid changes in Hong Kong’s stock market landscape, Hang Seng Indexes Company conducted a stakeholder consultation exercise early this year with a goal to ensure HSI’s representativeness and to evolve to keep pace with Hong Kong’s financial market, effective in the June 2021 Index Rebalancing. The major enhancement includes:

·        Target to increase the number of constituents to 80 by the mid-2022 and eventually to 100
·        Selecting the constituents by Seven Industry Groups
·        Shorten listing history requirement to 3 months irrespective of market value
·        Maintaining 20-25 “Hong Kong” Constituents
·        Adopting a weighting cap of 8% on all HSI constituents

Mr. Gary Chiu, Senior Research Manager of Hang Seng Indexes Company will share the details of the above enhancements, methodologies, and analysis of the HSI’s latest revamp with the audience.
